Artistic Approach

This piece is the epilogue of a study focused on the social and environmental benefits of urban gardens in the city of Barcelona. Apart from the rigorous study presented in the Urban Allotment Gardens in European Cities, TURBA wanted to share the project’s conclusions in an informative, fun and empathetic way with all those who had participated in the study, people of all ages and condition from the various districts of Barcelona. The video was conceived as a gratitude an acknowledgement to all of them.

For this reason we decided that the protagonists of the video should be the people. We aimed at a charming visual style close to that of a children’s book. With an irregular stroke that avoids the coldness of vectors and with some comic and fanciful concessions with the artwork.

The design of the characters is considered avoiding strident proportions and with a certain geometry to avoid adding complexity to the message. In the same way, the color is applied with plain areas and few strokes and the chromatic range is limited in search of a more playful than realistic mood where the warm colors of the Mediterranean predominate.
